MY STORY

Humble beginnings

Left school at 16. Got a job in a hanger recycling factory, peeling stickers of hangers for £2.40 an hour!

(2001) Aged 21, got a job at Connexions (careers service) helping young people find work and working with partner organisations to help with their business ideas.

Also became a dad. Best thing in the world.

(2004) Aged 24, became the Midlands leading Mentoring Trainer, personally training 250 staff from the professional services and third sector every year, on how to support people from diverse backgrounds into work and start their own business.

On New Years Eve 2004, I made the decision to dedicate my life to helping young people and companies to grow!

Founded a mentoring consultancy for schools.

Businesses

(2005) January 2005, I grew my mentoring consultancy into one of the UK's first ever diversity focused recruitment companies, for the UK professional services sector.

Within 12 months, the business went under. Massive learning curve that changed my life!

Suffered depression and nearly lost everything that was important to me. Real people helped me to believe in me again.

(2007) Set up Cultiv8 Solutions, a diversity consultancy that integrates entrepreneurship skills development for staff.

(2009) Jumped back into corporate for a while...became the first ever National Diversity Advisor for Golf (sport, not the car!). I created a national diversity and inclusion strategy for the sport - helped over 5000 new people get involved with golf nationally.

(2011) Selected as one of the national Start Up Britain Ambassadors

(2012) Qualified as a practitioner in Corporate Governance, to help third sector organisations become more sustainable.

Co-founded The Hot500, a personal development network for aspiring entrepreneurs - less formal stuff, more mindset and personal growth in areas that others may not want to explore.

(2013) I was made redundant and unemployed...again! Second massive learning curve. Resilience and past experience gave me confidence to keep going.

Same year, I co-founded business support organisation BizBritain Finance. Helped to grow the business to a team of five staff, launched over 700 new UK startups, brokered over £4 million pounds of start up loan funding and provided aftercare mentoring, training and support.

(2015) Chosen as one of the Maserati100 Top 100 UK Entrepreneurs for giving back.

(2016) I exited the business and decided to venture into a new area of challenge.

Moved into the world of FinTech for the first time, and founded FeeLYX, a spend analysis platform designed to help large organisations assess the viability of disrupting new customer markets before they make a decision.

After two years of research, testing and planning, I have built a team and I'm excited about how we are about to merge the world's of diversity, data and commercial growth on a GLOBAL scale.

My journey continues..
